Hey guys, ITS department is currently migrating our emails from Novell to Microsoft and the whole process will take approximately two weeks, which is why it is now inaccessible since Friday. I'm afraid it will not be possible to check your results through email at this point. Perhaps you could call AAD and request that your results be sent to your other email address?
Anyway for more details a blog post from SRC is attached below: -
I'd like to bring your attention to an e-mail I have received regarding I-Drive:
We have migrated our system from Novell to Microsoft. The I Drive that you mentioned earlier is running on Novell System and not be accessible anymore. The only way now for all the student to access the I Drive is to access it inside IMU. We plan to introduce Microsoft Sharepoint but this will only happen in Q1 2011. This new portal will allow student to access the I drive later. We also have migrated IMU staff email from Groupwise to Exchange. Student emails are next. We are in the process to migrate student email to Live@EDU where student will access bigger space for their email. This only start next week and hope be able to finish in 2 weeks time. For the student exam result this Friday, we will enable back Groupwise email for student for them to check their result on their emails.
From this email we have a few important points:
- I-Drive is not accessible online as it was run on Novell System.
- Students CAN access I-Drive on IMU computers.
- Microsoft Sharepoint - which will allow students to access I-Drive - will be up only in Q1 2011.
- Student Groupwise emails will still be accessible for your exam results until Friday. After that they will be migrating to Live@EDU and no longer on Groupwise. THIS WILL TAKE HOPEFULLY IN 2 WEEKS.
A lot of you are and will be angry about I-Drive and - if you use the IMU email - also the IMU emails. I have already replied asking whether we can speed up the process of introducing Microsoft Sharepoint so that I-Drive will be accessible sooner and am waiting for ITS' reply.
The ITS department hopes to improve the IT services in IMU even if their rep is torn to shreds in the short run. There are advantages to migrating to Microsoft, none of which appear obvious right now, but in the long run will prove to be more convenient. And I know a lot of you are probably directing your anger at me, and you have every right to, since what I do probably isn't advertised every day in front of all of you. I AM trying to advocate on your behalf, and if I am keeping a low profile, it is probably because I am trying to study for an exam on Friday. Like all of you, I am a student, and I do understand the pains that most of you IMU students have, especially when it comes to studying.
If you have any further questions, please direct them to me via email at imusrc@gmail.com. I will answer them to the best of my ability.
Sincerely,
Suhaila
